Welcome to the home of the Harrison Lougheed Racing Team, and Igor, the inline six!

We have raced in the NHRA drag racing category of Competition Eliminator for 25 years. In this category, other cars in your class that run fast times can end up affecting the index of that class, and since the index is the time you try to race against, you ultimately run slower. This led us to explore a class within the 'Comp' category where there weren't a hundred other fast cars in our class; where we could control our own destiny. Little did we know this decision would largely control us. The 260 dyno pulls testing the engine's power, the 5 complete air induction systems, and the18 months of trial and error at the start of the project almost broke our back. The lack of success was the most difficult part to accept. After almost 30 months, the last 150 horse power was found in 4 dyno pulls. IGOR was alive!

The marriage between Igor and the Don-Ness-built Chevrolet Baretta was made, and on their honeymoon voyage, they went 7 mph over what was then the national record. Igor outgrew his body and had to be transplanted into a fresh physique: a Cavalier masterfully crafted by Don Ness Racecraft specifically for him. So fearsome was the combo, that only the racing gods can know what will be in store...

The saga continues.

February 12, 2014 - Happy New year 2014 sorry for the no updates , we are still here , IGOR has been resting , 2014 will be a different approach to racing , Comp has become very expensive and the number of races we will attend will be dictated by sponsor participation , we have some great prospects and if they pan out , we will race the full schedule......so let's all be positive and bring home what IGOR needs to compete.....thanks for all the e-mails and calls , 2014 will be interesting.....

June 17, 2013 - MISSION is in the books , we managed to set both ends of the world record , ran 177 mph for the 1st time (177.37 ) , was neet to do it at our home track , the fans seemed to appreciate it , it was fun to be back at the races . I think we will run the Seattle races and more if we can , IGOR was a happy camper.......it's all good.....

May 30, 2013 - Stay tuned for IGOR news....we're working on it .....

November 25, 2012 - The World Finals are in the books , Congrat's to Bruno Massel and his Dad for winning the World Championship , but Doug and Bob Lambeck's win at the World Finals was impressive. IGOR is hard at work for next year......news on this front will be announced ........soon. Thanks for all the e-mails and calls, we are still here ........it's all good.....

August 13, 2012 - Our trip to the Seattle Fallnationals Aug.3rd , was a reminder of how big the sport of drag-racing has become . The touring pro's with the nitromethane cars (8,000 HP) and the Pro Stock cars are a beautiful assembly of engineering and performance. IGOR likes the big stage and our trip was successful ,  carrying the LOCTITE banner , there was huge interest in our relationship with the Henkel Corporation.  More news on this as the coming weeks unfold , the new IGOR is getting ready to flex his muscles......

July 25, 2012 - Sometimes a plan comes together…..the plan for the Mission National Open was one of those plans….qualified #1 , set both ends of the 1/8th mile world record (ET and MPH) had a perfect light during eliminations (0.000) and won the race (at least shared the win due to a rained out final). Henkel Canada was on board and they were thrilled with the results ….Henkel is in the record books…..next race MAY be Seattle , Aug. 2nd although crew has a lot of other obligations that fall on that weekend , so we may not be able to attend. Still a few days to decide or arrange,,,,we will keep you posted….IGOR is chomping at the bit.

July 19, 2012 - The May race at Mission was a huge success , IGOR ran his fastest times ever , Loctite was on display and the welcome mat was out to the spectators and competitors. Everyone enjoyed the race program and Loctite was well received by one and all , their giveaway's represented the product well and the people did appreciate it. Race day we had a glich in communication (see video) so we plan on setting that straight this weekend.  The National Open offers the only venue where you can attempt a world record in the "1/8th" mile , 1st attempt will be 10 AM Sat. July 21st , hope to see you all there , IGOR is ready.....

May 10th, 2012 - Things are moving along ......at a pace that has brought us to May and we can't believe it. Our 1st race of the year will be at our home track, Mission , and have we got some plans for you. We are proud to announce a new sponsor for us ,Loctite , Henkel Corp. our Pit area will be full of activity , IGOR likes Loctite , in fact IGOR would not exist without several Loctite products. We hope to see you all at the Mission race , IGOR likes all the attention , Loctite has lots of fun giveaways planned , don't miss Canada's biggest race of the year.

January 10th, 2012 - HAPPY NEW YEAR to all our friends and fans, here we go, IGOR has some cool plans for 2012, he will be joined by his new version (brother), a whole new attitude can be expected from his brother. Thanks for all your support during 2011, overwhelming really, we all appreciate it, especially, IGOR (I mean IGOR's).

December 16th, 2011 - It took until the 3rd round of the World Finals, for Lou Ficco to pull off what we all thought was not possible, win that round to pass Sal Biondo for the World Championship and win it by 10 points.....WOW....Congrat's to the whole Ficco clan. We had a great year, winning the big one, the Winternat's, ran fast for most of the year and IGOR was tough and reliable throughout. The new IGOR is a beam of bright light.....2012 will be fun. Merry Christmas to everyone, see you at the races....

September 30th, 2011 - There is a saying in motorsport, you can go from Hero to Zero at any given moment, well we got that all figured out .....our season is over, we were the best in the world....for a while....we are now totally average.....with the potential to be the best again.....at any moment. I guess the old saying, "if it was easy, everyone would do it", is a pretty accurate one. Winning is a formula of HP, ability, and Luck.....looking forward to that combo returning. Thanks for all the trick e-mails and calls, we're still here.....going to work harder on the formula......the new IGOR is bad (which of course means good) really bad.....

July 21st, 2011 - Chicago was an experience, the Allstars program is a credit to NHRA and their respect for the Sportsman racer. Congrat's to Frank Aragona and his Dad, the 2011 Comp Champion, a lifetime achievement, drag racing's equivalent to golf's Skins Game. Although, we were not successful , it was a privilege to be there. Got off the plane and headed for Woodburn, quite the pace to maintain, 4 qualifying hits, Friday , Saturday, rained out Sunday.  Seattle National Event, Aug. 5th is next, come by and say hello, IGOR says Hi also. (Drag Race Canada Article here)

June 27th, 2011 - A whirlwind of activity describes our world these days. The Mission race May 25th was a struggle, rain, floods and very tricky track conditions, which we never got a handle on, brought an end to our day in 2nd round. With little time to worry about that, we pulled IGOR apart and freshened things up, just in time to head for Spokane. We missed the setup for this track also, not compensating for the 27.2 barometer, properly, as rain once again almost got the race cancelled, but in the end it was one shot qualifying and into eliminations with what we now knew, was the wrong setup, but there was no time to change it, we missed #1 qualifying spot, bogged the motor, and in general did not do well. Lost in the semi's, but came home with all parts healthy and we are now prepping IGOR to head for Chicago and the Jegs Allstars race.

Chris Cannon , the Super Gas Jeg's Allstar winner, is taking IGOR in his rather spiffy hauler, (IGOR is going upstairs) to Chicago, leaving July 2nd. We are flying out Wed. July 7th. We being , Rob , Dolly, Webb, Al and his family, Lisa, Brandon and Ashley . This has been a huge organizational trip, the trailer has EVERYTHING in it and we can't take all that stuff, so the list has been started . I'll be happy once that 1st qualifying pass is under our belt , then we'll know what we forgot. It's an exciting time right now, the weekend after Chicago, we are back in Woodburn OR, not a schedule we have ever run before, the new motor will be needed soon, we're wearing IGOR out, he needs a rest......but this is good....thanks for all your support , the summer is revving up.

May 2nd, 2011 - Boise is in the books and....well....it.....went.....pretty good. (UNDERSTATEMENT!) Qualified #1, set both ends of the world record,....to a 7.55 @ 177.56....won the race....AND  ended up winning the JEGS Allstar title, which started and finished in Boise.....a year long quest for the title. Some pretty good chicken here...

April 9th, 2011 - CHECK OUT THE RIDE WITH IGOR in the Multimedia section...

Back from Vegas , although we didn't win, we came home happy. The schedule heats up now, with Boise just a few weeks away, May 1st. The new IGOR is taking shape and we hope to be making some noise with him in the weeks to come. Mission will be here before you know it (May 25th) and there is a lot planned for that race. Hope to see everyone, IGOR WANTS TO SAY HI.......
The Winternational's win seems to carry on, every day there is a phone call or e-mail from somewhere far away, and the good feeling continues. Thank you all, for your incredible support......IGOR DEFINITELY LIVES.....

March 4th, 2011 - Sometimes the best laid plans, end up the best laid results......last minute decision to go to the Winternational's, Brenda and I and the dogs head south, the coast route, hwy 101, cause the snow is too deep in the Siskious , it snows in LA for the 1st time in 35 years,

We're havin' fun now, we qualify 3rd, it snows, we sit......for 3 days.....then we do the unthinkable.....we win the Winternationals, like winning the Daytona 500 in Nascar. It sunk in today, at the newspaper photo shoot, I said to Al, We won the Winternational's. It is a beautiful thing, .

We arrive home to 141 e-mails, the phone never stopped all the way home, when NHRA Competition dept, called.....and asked what size jacket and what to put on it......WHAT Jacket.....and so the story goes.....the green jacket you get when you do the unthinkable....it's all too much really......the Wally is 3 times as big as the "other" Wallys.......thank you Lord, and everyone else that believed in us.....IGOR has landed....

February 16th, 2011 - Getting all the round pegs into the round holes, seems simple enough, unless you're dealing with IGOR.....some of those holes are oval...I am happy to report, we are headed for the Winternat's, one week ago I could not say that, but IGOR is fresh and ready, along with everything else. This includes the tow vehicle, which got new everything (tires, brakes, and all parts in between) Dolly and I (and the dogs, Rocky and Kali) are headed out Sat. Feb. 20th, Al, Mark and Webb fly in Wed. 23rd. We have not been to the Winternat's in 10 years, so we are all looking forward to the 50th Anniversary Version. IGOR has never been, so he's really excited. Hi to everyone.....IGOR is mysteriously serious these days....something's up.

November 30th, 2010 - The World Finals are in the books, a lot of drama in the Pro classes , with John Force pulling it off in last minute style. Comp was won before the Finals were run, by Al Ackerman, he had a dream season and well-deserved the Championship. The latest IGOR is well under way with minimal hurdles....we should make some noise next month, this will be the 1st IGOR for HP so the anticipation is high. Will report progress as it happens.....

September 29, 2010 - My mom once told me, "Don't count your chickens before they hatch" particularly when you have a late hatcher named Aaron Strong. The only way we could lose the Championship was if Aaron WON the last race, R/U would not get it done.....he did it. I did not think it could happen, but it did, congrat's to that young team, there was some magic in the air when that win light went on, for everyone except us. Next year will bring a new set of challenges, but I will promise you this, mysterious parts malfunctioning will not be one of them. A new IGOR Jr. is under construction and he will have a whole new attitude, cause he wants to beat up on his brother. You'll hear the roar of the dyno in the coming month's......

September 22, 2010 - Bakersfield, Phoenix races, 20 hours of towing each way, tough game this drag-racing, I guess somewhere along the line.....you break stuff......... ENOUGH ALREADY.......IGOR has been fine, it's just all the other stuff that's attached to him. We dropped the car and trailer in Medford, on our way home for 2 days, then back down for this weekend. Incredibly, we are still in good shape to end the season, we'll have a good report to post......soon.

August 23rd, 2010 - Sometimes the best laid plans work out....not often but it sure is nice when you end up doing what you HAD to do...we won the Mission (rain out) race on Thursday. Wally was on display for the rest of the weekend.  Our tires went south the next day and the Seattle race became a challenge, to say the least. A day late and a dollar short....or a run late and a tire short, we woke up and put new tires on, one run too late. We missed the #1 spot and as a result missed the bye for 1st round and then went on to make a mistake ..... we lost . From hero to zero in 2 days, but we came away happy, Bakersfield is back in the picture, Sept. 17 then back up to Medford for the 25th.

2010 is shaping up to be a good year....stay tuned.

August 2nd, 2010 - Spokane ended early, started out well, qualified #1, then the clutch developed a mind of it's own and broke in 2nd round. We get a few weeks off now, then head for Seattle on Aug. 18. The Mission rain out race, from May, will be run on the Thursday before the Friday qualifying session for the Seattle race. The  division title will be on the line (pardon the pun) so it will get interesting, to say the least.  IGOR is happy these days.....

4.87 @ 141.06, New 1/8th Mile National Record!

July 26, 2010 - WE WON......set both ends of the 1/8th mile Nat'l record, qualified #1  and WON the Mission National Open. I guess you'd have to say it was a good weekend. Many thanks to Chad Perkin and Tom Barteluk, from LORCO for putting the whole program together......and congrat's to Bob Marshall (the not so grumpy (now) old man) for his R/U.  Off to Spokane this weekend, stay tuned IGOR has an attitude.......

July 20th, 2010 - Things are starting to happen, fast and furious, 1st and foremost, we are set to compete in the Mission Nat'l Open this weekend, July 24, 25th. Originally, we were to be in Sonoma CA, but we are looking forward to being at our home track for this non points-race. Interestingly enough, the "Open" series of races across Canada and the US, are the only venue you can set 1/8th mile records in. 1/4 mile records can also be set, as they can be set at all of the points races, both divisionally and nationally. Further to this venue is a larger cash payout, prize pools for #1 qualifier, etc. and it looks like we are going to get a larger field than most points races, Big Barbeque Sat. night, all in all, a neat way for all our friends to see IGOR race without travelling too far. Hope to see everyone (and we'll have time to chat0.... see you there.....

July 17th, 2010 - Seattle is in the books, IGOR continues his tour of performance. #1 qualifier under less than ideal conditions, nonetheless, fast. We decided to pass on Sonoma, this weekend, but that change in schedule is going to allow us to run the Mission National Open, July 24th and 25th. National Open's are the only venue that you can attempt 1/8th mile world records, so that will be one of our goals. This will be IGOR's 1st National Open, that Comp has been run at, so it should be a lot of fun for everyone, all our friends and fans will be able to see IGOR perform , without the pressure of a point's race. Normally we would not be able to do this, so we are all looking forward to racing in this venue and atmosphere. The current record for the 1/8th mile is 5.10 sec. @ 132 mph......the plan is to bomb it into another zone, like 4.85 sec. @ 141 mph....IGOR will be snorting.....

July 3rd, 2010 - Woodburn is in the books, t'was an interesting race, to say the least, we lost the final but left happy, Seattle national event is next, all the big player's will be there, IGOR likes Seattle. Hope you all can drop by and say hello, 40,000 people will be there....

June 10th, 2010 - The one thing they haven't figured out how to do is race in the rain (unless you turn corner's) Mission was a wet one, barely got 2 qualifying runs in over 5 days and just squeaked in 1st round , between rain and sun shower's. We ended up on top of the qualifying sheet, got by 1st round and the race will be completed on the Thursday, before the Seattle divisional in August See you there if you can make it.  Next up is Woodburn, June25th, chance of rain there is remote at best, usually 100+, but we'll take our rain tires, just in case....

May 12th, 2010 - Boise is in the books, successful and painful, qualified #1, lost in the final, but came away with a new sense of confidence, IGOR is Bad (which is good) , the Team are happy campers. Some really good calls were made over the course of the weekend, satisying calls, suffice to say, every call made us faster. Plans to get this hot rod covering the country are on going, IGOR is chomping at the bit, if Boise is any indication, we're at the tip of the iceberg......soon to be decided. Mission is next, May 28th, IGOR likes Mission...

April 13th, 2010 - Wow, January since the last update, what can i say but, sorry.  The Spring and everything leading up to it, has been a challenge, not to say we haven't been up for a challenge in the past, this time it was a test of diagnosis. IGOR was bolted to the dyno for 7 or 8 weeks, not using it every day, but nonetheless, bolted in place to try us on for size, day in and day out.....waitng.........When we found the problem or not to say found, but, stayed the course in believing what the problem was, in 5 pulls we were all smiling, Son of IGOR has his own tune up now.
Mission, testing yesterday, was better than expected, green track and cold temp, we got down there when the large majority of high powered cars were aborting. With the data we got, some changes are in order to prep for Boise, April 30th, this is a good thing considering we have 3 weeks. I can't remember being this ready for a season.

Boise, ID  April 30th

Fontana, CA May 15th (nat'l) ?

Mission, BC May 28th

Fallon, NV June 11th ?

Woodburn, OR June 25th

Seattle, WA  July 9th (nat'l)

Medford, OR September 25th

Las Vegas, NV October 28th (nat'l) ?

There you have it, in a dream season, we would go to the above races, Hope to see some or all of our fans at one or all of the races.....in a dream of course. Thanks again for all the support, IGOR is ready.....

January 27th, 2010 - HAPPY NEW YEAR, a rather mild winter has been pleasant and the work has started for the 2010 race season. With the Olympics about to fire up in a few weeks, the excitement is in the air in Vancouver, we're happy to have all our parts and pieces in our hands, no waiting this year. The dyno is buzzing and HP is in the air, "can't you smell it?" IGOR is just plain ruthless now, taming him for competition has been our focus, a nice thing to have to focus on. We hope to have some corporate help this year, which will allow us to expand our travel schedule, we'll keep you posted on developments as they unfold. As always, thanks for all the kind words and e-mails,........ IGOR promises to be in your face this year.......
